The keto diet is also called the ketogenic diet. This is a high-fat

diet. In this diet, the body depends on fat for energy. This diet is very low in carbohydrates and protein is given in very moderate or controlled amounts. When the body uses ketones as a source of energy, it is called cato diet for short. Under this, you do not eat carbohydrates while you consume large amounts of fat. In this diet shakes, cheese, and some selected types of vegetables are eaten while fruits are not eaten. For protein, you use smoothies in chicken, mutton, fish, and coconut oil whereas in India people eat a lot of cheese under this diet.

Because in this diet we consume low carbohydrate and high-fat foods, our body goes into a metabolic state called 'ketosis' which is a direct result of a reduction in carbohydrates. And that is why this diet is called a ketogenic diet. In the case of ketosis, due to the absence of carbohydrates in our body, the body starts breaking down fats to get energy, so as a result of this diet, our body starts to eliminate fat in a way. In this state the body uses ketones as fuel which are obtained from the breakdown of fats and all this work is taking place in our liver. This energy is used by the whole body, including our brain.

What to eat in Cato Diet?

Since the reduction in carbohydrates is the basic principle of this diet, the carbohydrates consumed daily in it should be less than 50 mg on a particular day and in principle less than 20 mg. The fewer carbs, the more benefits. This diet includes:

Meat:

Meat is an essential part of this diet because it contains a lot of carbs but it is also important to avoid eating too much meat because too much meat means too much protein which our body starts to convert into glucose and this is one of the principles of this diet. On the contrary

Eggs:

The use of eggs in any form is acceptable in this diet whether it is fried egg or boiled or in the form of an omelet!

● Vegetables that grow above ground:

All vegetables grown on the fresh or stored ground are useful. For example cauliflower, broccoli, avocados, or cabbage.

What items should be avoided in the Cato Diet?

All foods with high sugar levels are avoided during the Cato Diet. Rice, pasta, potatoes, and double bread are examples. Processed food was also avoided.

Types of Cato Diet:

The most commonly used diet is 5% carbohydrates, 20% protein, and 75% fats.

As the name implies, in which more than one cycle of carbohydrates diet is given, for example, 5 keto diet gives 2 days more carbohydrates.

It contains carbohydrates during exercise.

It is high in protein, about 35% and 5% carbohydrates, and 60% fat.
