What happens when we are sleeping?

itself.

Mainly two processes act,

1- Sleep protects new memories from being depleted by the interfering experiences that are necessary during wakefulness..

2. Sleep integrates memories according to their concerning importance and the learner's expectations for remembering.


In wakefulness, new conditions and stimuli can readily prevent new memories from consolidating. During sleep, your sympathetic nervous system. Which controls your fight or flight response or is dealing with threats and dangerous situations gets a chance to relax.


Levels of cortisol known as the stress hormone decrease during the first hours of sleep before rising to peak soon after you wake up. This helps make you feel cheerful when you rise-shine and control your appetite.


Anti-Diuretic Hormone helps you not have to urinate

Why do you have to go to the toilet to urinate every couple of hours during the day, but can sleep a whole eight without heading to the loo?


An anti-diuretic hormone released by the brain under a circadian rhythm that switches off the need to urinate so often overnight.


Immune system during Sleep.

Your immune system releases inflammation-fighting cytokines. When you are sleeping, your immune system releases a type of small protein called cytokines. If you are sick or injured, these cytokines help your body fight inflammation, infection, and trauma. Without enough sleep, your immune system might not be able to function at its best.


A sound sleep is vital for your physical and mental health, so if you’re having difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, not feeling rested when you wake up, or feeling tired during the day, talk to your doctor about what you can do to improve your sleep.


When we sleep well, we feel best physically and mentally and will act better during the day. We do know about sleep and why it’s so important for our bodies and minds. A good sleep of 8 hours grants us a new active body to perform better than yesterday.
